Studies related to the Sabbath Day

Most people would recognise that the 4th commandment tells us to observe the Sabbath Day. There is almost universal agreement amongst all people as to the timing of the Sabbath Day. It begins at Sunset on Friday evening and goes through the next 24 hours to sunset on Saturday evening. The real question is: why should Christians be concerned to serve or even acknowledge the Sabbath Day? Many commentators will suggest that this was one of the ordinances or rituals that was nailed to the cross. Yet Jesus Himself observed this Day and magnified its importance by doing good works on the day. We know the New Testament Church met together on the Sabbath Day. We also know it is serves both as a memorial of Creation Week - reminding us of our origins and points forward to the future Sabbath Millenial rest for the whole world when Jesus Christ returns. Clearly the Sabbath Day is important to God and as Christians we should be aware of the understanding that we can gain from observance of this 24 hour period - that is the purpose of these studies.
